Peter Lowe
William Peter Lowe known as Peter Lowe is a criminal barrister with 24 years of experience in criminal law and other areas of law including administrative and environmental law.
Peter is a graduate of the University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Arts (1983) and a Bachelor of Laws (1986).
After practising as a Senior Solicitor with the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions and the Environment Protection Authority for 10 years, Peter was called to the Bar in 1999.
Peter has a diverse practice. He is an experienced trial and appellate advocate and regularly appears in the Local and Magistrates Courts, District and County Courts and Supreme Courts of New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland and the Australian Capital Territory in addition to the Federal Court of Australia and the High Court of Australia.
Peter has particular expertise in criminal matters and has specific knowledge of the complexities of a wide range of:
- Commonwealth matters (including white collar crime and related issues)
- and
- State matters
Peter has published a number of academic articles in publications such as the Australian Law Journal and the Law Society Journal of New South Wales. He has appeared in a number of televised interviews and documentaries including Law and Disorder: Allan Kessing – The Reluctant Whistleblower (SBS, 25 November 2009). Peter has also been quoted in the Legal Affairs section the The Australian newspaper in respect of the prosecution's withholding of evidence.
